Susannah Maynard
Susannah was born in 1825/6 in Coventry.
She married Thomas Elton in 1847 in Coventry.
Thomas
was accused of manslaughter on 6th. March 1862 at The Old Bailey, London.
He was indicted for 'feloniously killing'(on 21 Feb 1862) John Gould at the New
Cattle Market, London.
During an argument over a horse, he threatened then punched Gould, he poked his
'drovers stick' into Gould’s eye
which would later be the cause of his death.
He was transported on the 'Lord Dalhousie' to Australia to serve 6 yrs penal
servitude for manslaughter.
Susannah was moved to the Birmingham Asylum in Feb. 1865 and died there in 1866.
Only child is Thomas Elton b.1848.
