Eliza Maynard
Eliza was born Sept. 1855 in Stratford on Avon. She married James Hicks in Stratford in 1875.
They had a child William Henry born 1876 in Stratford on Avon.In the 1881 census he was resident in the Stratford on Avon workhouse age just 5. I would guess he had some physical or mental problems No further trace of him.
James and Eliza then disappeared from the Stratford on Avon area.
The rest is speculation.
I believe James Hicks was originally from London area (Clerkenwell). It is possible that they moved back to that area.
An Eliza Hicks died in Holborn, London in 1878 (death age is about right).
At the 1881 census a James Hicks was living in Clerkenwell as a lodger.
James then married Emily Harris in Dec. 1881 in Holborn.
They had five children.
