Edith Amy Selwyn Grosvenor
Edith was not a part of the Maynard family as such. She appeared on the 1901 census living with Edward and Sarah and recorded as adopted. She was recorded on the census as Edith Amy Selwyn and I could find no further trace of her. After much more research it seems Selwyn was her mother's surname. I am now confident that her full name was Edith Amy Selwyn Grosvenor.
She was born in Worcester in 1897/8 and Edward & Sarah were living there at that time. Her father Henry Grosvenor was married to Eliza and they had 6 children Florence, Agnes, William, Lizzie,Alfred and Arthur. He fathered Edith Amy (out of wedlock) with Annie Elizabeth Selwyn so I presume that's why my grandparents took her in. His wife Eliza died in 1901 and he married Annie Elizabeth Selwyn (b.1868) on 13th. Feb. 1904 in Harbourne. Edith Amy then went to live with them, they also had 3 more children.
Marjorie b.1908
Leslie b.1909
Edward b.1910
Edith Amy married John T Barnsley in Worcester August 1915 and they had a son Wilfred M Barnsley born Jan.1918. Her father was recorded as John Grosvenor but that was her grandfather as her father Henry had died in 1914.
